I wish I could go back and read this book for the first time over and over again. I absolutely loved it! I must admit the first couple of pages I thought it wasn't going to be a good book and I wouldn't be able to finish the book. Boy was I wrong and I am glad I was! Definitely, wont be the book for everyone but if you like fantasy and quirky; or willing to go out of your comfort zone a bit give it a try! Might find it's one of your new favorites too!

I'm not entirely sure what I just read, but it ultimately fell short. Not really YA, so I guess it's more likely "New Adult." A little sci-fi, a little magical realism, a lot of potential, but I spent too much of the last half of the story wondering where we were going and then was ultimately disappointed at where we ended up. I enjoyed thinking about the conflict/relationship between technology and nature; I wish that had been explored differently, I guess. A lot of loose ends and nagging questions for me, too - but I could have just missed the boat on this one.

Good book. Excellent character development. The first. It could be Young Adult suitable, but then they grow up.

Absolutely remarkable.

Like what The Magicians could have been, a little bit? really enjoyed this even if it did get a little squee/tidy @ the end... strange to say "believable characters" in this context, but it's true.

Hard to know how to rate. I loved the first half of this book and disliked the end - even the last 1/2 - 1/3. It is touted as a master work and profound... but if you have spent time thinking about technology - not really...
Becuase I loved it at first... but was really disappointed by the time I am finished... I cannot say more without spoilers.

Lo encuentro delicioso, especialmente al principio. El final y la trama general no me deja satisfecha

I loved the first section, and thought Anders captured the voice and mindset of children and young teens with rare accuracy and grace. The second half--when those characters morph into navel gazing adults? Not so much.

My enjoyment of this novel varied widely from page to page--not because it was "weird," which I was warned about (and it's not that weird), but because the writing itself is so uneven. At times revelatory, at times utterly boring, the novel's lack of consistent momentum made it challenging for me to pay it the attention it might have deserved.

One of the best books I have read in ages, easily in the top three I've read this year.
