4/5 stars
3/5 spice
A quick read with relatable characters. I listened to the audiobook and really enjoyed the narrator's ability to play both parts of the MCs. I've listened to this narrator, Frankie Corzo, before in another book and loved her. Esmeralda and Rodrigo had amazing chemistry and she brought that forth very well.
Tropes:
Second chance romance
Rivals to lovers/ kind of office romance
Miscommunication 😝
Dual POV
Dominican and other Latinx representations and culture
The spice was hot in this one, but I kind of expect that with Adriana Herrera.
IMO it's always frustrating when the MMC has a misguided notion that miscommunication is acceptable when "protecting" his love from harsh realities. That's my only gripe... so much pain could've been avoided if he had just communicated what happened. But, alas, he was young and misguided. All is forgiven in the end when it's a HEA.
Highly recommend for fans of second chance romance and office romance.

Adriana Herrera has a new book coming out next month and I’m the luckiest girl on the planet to have the opportunity to read an early copy. One Week to Claim It All is a second chance, work place, rivals to lovers (even if just for a week) romance and the first in a new series. This is the story of Esmeralda who has inherited her father’s media empire Sambrano Studios, and per the will had exactly one year to claim the role. She’s at the end of her timeline when she crashes a board meeting right as her ex, Rodrigo, is poised to take over. The board is giving her one week to prove that she’s right for the job, a stipulation of her father’s will. As if that weren’t a tall enough order, she’s got to contend with her father’s spiteful, revenge seeking wife AND the feelings that come blazing back every time Rodrigo walks into the room.
This is soapy and delightful and HOT AF and I read it in one sitting because I did not want to put it down. I loved the tension between Esme and Rodrigo as they battle for the same job and their emotions for each other, neither of them willing to back down. I’m always shocked by how much of an emotional response Adriana can create in me with her villains in such a short amount of time. I also really enjoy the passion she creates in her career focused characters. If you loved seeing Jude’s vision for the library come alive in American Dreamer, you will absolutely adore Esme’s plans for Sombrano Studios. I cannot wait to see what’s next in this series!

Thanks to #netgalley and #harlequin for the eARC of One Week To Claim It All by Adriana Herrera.
Blurb: To everyone’s shock, Esme inherits her absentee father’s title of CEO of his video production studio but has one week to put together a presentation proving she deserves the position, or the Board of Directors will give the spot to Rogrigo, Esme’s ex and her father’s mentee. Esme won’t be put off by her gorgeous rival ex, or her conniving stepmother or half sibling.
Overall I liked it! Esme is great and her passion for her career and culture really shine through. I did feel a little disconnected from Rodrigo. I feel like his motives and reasoning behind past actions weren’t flushed out enough for me but that didn’t stop me from falling for their romance

Adriana Herrera, my beloved. This was a lot of fun! I love the office setting, and I thought the central conflict was really interesting. Rodrigo and Esmerelda were great leads to follow. I am a SUCKER for a good exes-to-lovers story, and Herrera used that trope to its full advantage. There was such great tension and chemistry between these two!
My only gripe is that some of the emotional swings came out of nowhere or with little build-up, but I assume that might be because of the short length.
Still, I will pick anything Herrera writes because she is just a queen at what she does.

I love Adriana Herrera and I do plan on going through her entire backlist. While I highly enjoyed the sequel to this one, this romance fell very flat for me. Again, I just couldn't get behind the MMC. I feel like there was way too much that he did to avoid being in a relationship and honest with her. I don't understand how not telling her about what he did for their family would have made the break up worse? She was already upset.
Also fuck their dead deadbeat CEO dad. I was so sick of hearing "but his legacy! Everything that he worked for!" when he was the real villain of the whole thing. The stepmom was an awful person but she was right when she said he married for her money.

I would have enjoyed this more had I listened to the audio. It read very slow and I kept getting taken out of the story.
