The King of Rats has a problem-he is too soft. His mate Alice talks back to him and cheats on him, his sister plots to overthrow him and his pack are betraying him. To win them back he plans to kill his enemies and find a better food source-until he falls in love with a mouse.

It was ok. It was mildly amusing, a few rats get what they deserve and it was well enough written but it just wasn't a story that really grabbed me. I didn't really like the insta-love for the mouse storyline and felt it would have been better just concentrating on the rat story which was more interesting.

If you like stories with animals as heroes and villans you might well enjoy this.

I absolutely loved this story! It's unique and imaginative, with a touch of humor - well written, with great character development. So great in fact, Mr. Carrico had me routing for a disgusting RAT. Full disclosure: I read this story in the TALES FROM THE MIST anthology and am one of the authors in the book. This story was definitely one of my favorites and I've read Mr. Carrico's other works as well. I highly recommend Mr. Carrico's books if you like horror and sci-fi.
