Rival bakeries and judges on a GBBO type show. Delightful, although a little darker than her previous books. There's a theme of grief that runs through out. Lucy Parker is excellent at grumpy/sunshine pairings.

On the surface this is sweet, charming, funny, and romantic.
On a slightly deeper level, it looks at two different types of relationships. There are a number of examples in the story that echo each type. The most visible is the romantic relationships that are affected by fame: Dom & Sylvie, the princess & her fiancee, and Prince Phillip & Jessica. Then there's a deep family-based relationship between a child and a non-parental family member: Sylvie & her aunt, Dom & his grandfather, the princess & her uncle, and one that's still in transition, Dom & his little sister, Pet. I very much enjoyed watching how these relationships echoed each other, and how they managed to work out despite the outside forces working against them.

Am I adding this book to my tbr merely because the mc and I share the same name?
Plus it's a rom-com. :)
