This is the first fiction book I've listened to as an audiobook as an adult.
I enjoyed this, I think I'd have preferred it in print/ebook - when characters pop up at the end, I couldn't remember the history but couldn't flick back to find out what had happened.
I loved the parallel between the first and last chapter with Poppy walking into a bar.

I wanted to like this more. I actually really liked Beach Read, and I love friends-to-lovers. It’s my favorite trope, probably, because it’s MY trope. And I liked Alex a lot- he reminded me of my husband in a good way. Poppy was fine, I guess, but the writing was more… tedious than expected. I had to read sentences a few times to understand them. The jumping around confused me a few times, too. I liked the traveling, and it was entertaining enough, but I really wasn’t that invested in their relationship.
It’s funny- a lot of people don’t like friends to lovers because usually there is an OW or OM that gets screwed. That has never bothered me before, but it kinda did this time. Maybe it was just because I was a little disappointed anyway, so I was nitpicking.
This might have just been a byproduct of high expectations. It was FINE, it just wasn’t great. But I know a lot of people loved it, so it’s worth trying. It’s not like I can see anyone HATING it. It just didn’t have that extra spark for me, that’s all.

This book was an enjoyable read, although it was not my favorite book by Emily Henry. I loved reading about the different locations that Poppy and Alex went to, and I did enjoy both of the characters, although I got annoyed with how their height difference was often mentioned. All in all, it was a fun summer read.
