It was a cute rom-com. Unfortunately, I liked Sam (one of the supporting characters) a lot more than Ellie (the protagonist). Ellie, for whatever the reason, doesn't know how to be honest with people or herself. Sam, on the other hand, is the type of main character I'd want to root for - authentic and honest. The whole crux of the plot is built around this character flaw in Ellie, so if she didn't have it, there wouldn't be a book. I guess I would like to understand why she deliberately lies to everyone - there's no reason stated in the book, nor does it seem in character for her.

I really thought I was going to love this book, because fake dating is one of my favorite tropes, but it was so tiring to hear Ellie say all the time that nothing was going on between her and Theo, specially because the way she thinks about herself and because she is not as rich as Theo, she keeps telling Sam to get back with him when there she is having sex with Theo.
Besides it didn’t even seem like they liked each other as people or really cared about each other but just what they could get out of the arrangement.
Thank you NetGalley for an ARC of this book.

This was a sweet one! I was hesitant where the story was going in the beginning, but it pulled through with a fast paced, charming romance. It's easy to root for Ellie and Theo! Tropes include fake relationship, enemies to lovers. The restaurant-foodie angle was unique in the world of rom-coms. Quick read!

Thank you to RandomHouse and NetGalley for this ARC.

Love You, Mean It
by Jilly Gagnon

THOUGHTS:

I want to thank NetGalley, the publisher and the author for giving me the opportunity to read an e-arc in exchange for my honest review.

Oh I love Jilly! She could write literally anything and I would devour it right up. This book was fun. This book was just such a fun book to read and enjoy. I eat up romcoms and this was one that I sat down to read and I giggled, I questioned the characters out loud, I spoke out loud…There are twists and turns thrown through this book and I was loving it. I enjoyed traveling through this little fun adventure with Ellie and Theo. They are super cute. This book just had all the ingredients of a fun easy going romcom book and I think will be enjoyed by everyone who picks it up. Jilly never disappoints. This should be on everybody’s TBR.

Enjoyed the first half but the second half
veered way too far in the miscommunication/this is really just fake/you deserve better tropes for my taste

I really loved the start of this book and how the characters/storyline are similar to While You Were Sleeping.  I used to love that movie so I thought it was really cute that the author kind of used a similar set up for that in the novel! I really enjoyed the business rivalry in the book and how the main characters utilized their fake dating to kind of help both characters with their agenda.  I did think that the FMC had some growth in the book, but I do feel like she could have used a lot more as she was just kind of frustrating at times. Overall, this is a very lighthearted book that was quick to read and I feel like it is a good pallet cleanser to read between books!

I am really struggling fluffy for me. I can’t stand when others use description words every other word in a sentence. Also, the female main character is already annoying me. I might give this a try again at a later date. I just am trying not to read stuff that I don’t love.

Okay, I loved this one and I mean it! I needed a good palette cleanser after a lot of fantasy and mystery reads lately and this delivered. The characters were all really likable and it had the perfect amount of spice to it. I flew through this and I can see this being the perfect beach/vacation read this summer.
