A memoir about Laurie Lee’s journey to London and then through Spain in the early 1930s.
The book contains disturbing mentions of paedophilia, attempted rape and incest which appeared to be accepted by the author. Suggesting that an 8 year old girl was knowingly sexy made my skin crawl.
It’s a shame about some of the content, because otherwise I found the book well-written and really evoked a sense of time and place.
