Dylan loses a tennis match and meets Oliver. They make a bet in which win or lose Dylan gets a trophy. Will she win or will she gain so much more? The plot was a good cozy romance with a tennis vibe. It kept me wanting to know what would happen to Dylan and Oliver and if Oliver would finally get her trophy. I immediately liked Dylan and Oliver early into the book. Most of the characters were interesting enough to make me have a like or hate opinion on them. There were some spicy scenes but it's definitely not that bad. Also the book had a dicktionary (her word not mine) where the explicit content can be found.. This book was a great Hallmark movie type of book. I would read more books by this author.

I really enjoyed getting Dylan’s story in this one. I always love a good black cat FMC. I also loved the progression from acquaintances to friends to lovers. 🥰

I did like the first book in the series better, but this is still a great addition to the series. So happy there were so many Nico & Scottie cameos in this one though!

Thank you to Avon & Harper Voyager for the ARC!

I’ve been a Meg fan since her first book and this one absolutely reminded me why! Friends to lovers is my favorite trope and I’m very picky about it when I’m reading and I loved this one. The way they quietly rooted for each other from the very beginning, to still keeping that foundation of friendship even after they fell in love. The way they both went on their own separate journeys to find themselves in the tennis world as well as their journey as coach and player.

Additionally, as someone who is not super familiar with tennis, I had no problem following the matches that took place throughout the book!

I received an ARC, all thoughts are my own.

As someone who knows very little about tennis, I appreciate that I can still understand what is going on during the tennis matches and fully enjoy them! The relationship shifts between the two main characters is so cool to see and makes their love story that much more believable with the slow progression. I think both of the MC’s are so lovable as individuals but I do feel like there were some parts of each character that were not full fleshed out. Will continue to read this series and I look forward to seeing who gets their love story next!

I really loved book one so was so excited for this one. I ate this up up! The meet cute was so cute and the friendship they formed from it was amazing. Watching them build that friendship to a point of love gah 🤌 I liked the aspect of him becoming her coach. They had such a strong relationship that it worked. I loveeee when a book has one character indulging in solo time and the other over hears them 🥵 top tier stuff there. I love that Dylan and Scottie also became such great friends after what took place in book one.
I wouldn't say you absolutely have to read the first one, but it definitely helps.

Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for the arc in exchange for an honest review.

I read the first book in this series back in December, and I'm glad I did. This is not a book that can be read as a standalone. While timelinewise it doesn't pick up right from where the first one left off, it does continue storylines of side characters and their character arcs from that story, as well as have characters that were introduced in the first book.

I still don't know a whole lot about tennis despite telling myself that I would learn about tennis if I was going to read books about the sport.

This book was a little more technical than the first book was, using terms that while I didn't actually know what they were I was able to infer close to what they meant by using context clues. I wish I knew a little bit more about just the basics of tennis, but that is a me problem, not an issue for this book as it was a lovely story without it.

I enjoyed the fact that there was no third act breakup. A lot of Dylans storyline was about personal growth, and while normally humans don't clearly communicate. When the clinch point for what could have been the third act breakup would have fit in, they were at a point where they should have been able to communicate well, and they did as a couple. But plenty of miscommunication.

I think I adore Dylan more than I adore Scottie.

Thank You NetGalley adn HarperCollins for the eArc to read and  review.

overall, I enjoyed this book, but not as much as Clean Point. I was soooo excited about the prospect of Dylan and Oliver getting together after meeting them in Clean Point, but it fell flat compared to the first book in my opinion, though I wouldn’t say it was bad at all.

to get it out of the way immediately, the first half of this book had a number of errors as it relates to tennis rules and scoring. there weren’t any in the latter half, so I’m not sure why the first half had that issue. but there were references to “sets” and “points” where the author really meant “games.” Also an instance that implied both players served during the same game, which doesn’t happen. I’m a big tennis fan, and maybe this wouldn’t bother someone who’s not, but I think as an author writing a sports romance, there needs to be enough due diligence to ensure that you’re accurately representing the sport. otherwise you’ll end up with a cranky superfan like me.

other than that, I felt like this book didn’t have the same quality of writing as Clean Point did, and while the characters had their traumas and challenges, it felt like it lacked some of the substance that Clean Point had. also, him calling her “brat” all the time was just overkill and felt cringey 💀

my final critique is that there were just a number of formatting errors and spelling errors that should be caught in editing.

all that being said, I DID very much enjoy the plot for what it was. Like I said, I’m a superfan, so any excuse to read a tennis romance is thrilling to me. I loved seeing Dylan and Oliver go from friends to lovers, and see him help change her mentality on the sport and find a new way to love it without feeling like a failure after a loss. they had such fun banter and his dedication to twilight was admirable. again, overall, I enjoyed it, and it’s definitely worth the read if you liked Clean Point.

Thank you to NetGalley and Avon and Harper Voyager for the advance copy to review!

Sigh, I really wanted to love this book and I truly thought I would. The reality is that I'm about halfway through and I can't even finish it. I find the story flat and boring. I don't feel any connection to the characters and they don't seem to have any chemistry at all. I'm not sure if it's the speed of how things are going or what but I can't continue to read it. I thought it could be because of the tennis element but I've read other sports romances before and loved them even though I don't follow any sports. I wish I could give more feedback on what the story is lacking for me, but I'm just bored and uninvested in these characters.
