I absolutely LOVED Angel's Dance. It made me laugh and it made me cry. Somehow Nalini has this amazing ability to draw me into her characters and make me feel deeply for them.

Read this book!

I just finished Angels' Dance for the first time. It was brilliant. I love Galen and Jessamy as a couple.

I've read all the other novellas in the book before so I won't make any comments in this review.

If you can't get enough of Singh's angels and vamipres you will not want to skip this. Each novella was a great addition to the Guild Hunter series. You get a deeper look into some favorite secondary characters in previous books.

Admittedly, I don't read much paranormal romance these days, unless you count Hellsing fanfiction. Still, the summary of this collection of novellas caught my interest, despite not reading Angels' Blood or anything in this series. Angels' Flight has four different stories set in the same world: Angel's Pawn; Angel's Judgment; Angel's Wolf; Angel's Dance.

The diverse (many characters are not white, which is rarely seen in paranormal romance) fantastical world Singh sets up is intriguing. While I don't tend to like creatures that are called angels that aren't really connected to religion, I enjoyed how Singh's angels were both beautiful but terrifying. Particularly in the first story, there were aspects of the world and how the angels operate I found uncomfortable until, from reading the subsequent short stories, I realized I was meant to be uncomfortable.

I love succinct stories. However, there were times the short lengths of these stories came to their detriment. For example, Angel's Pawn felt like it ended abruptly because of the lack of a Happily Ever After, or HEA. I understand that Ashwini and Janvier's romantic plot will likely be explored in a full-length novel, but a novella should still begin and end well on its own terms. Still, for the most part, despite not knowing anything about this world, I learned as I went along with little difficulty; I caught on to how characters connected to one another not just in a single story, but in all of them.

For me, the strongest story is Angel's Wolf; it has a strong emotional core and a traumatized hero, Noel, who heals not through reasserting his masculinity, but by showing compassion and empathy; the story subverted my expectations and surprised me. It explores grief and a dominant heroine whose reputation of being icy is because others fear her power. And also, she loves cats. Her story and her cats, Queen and Mimosa, quite frankly, made me tear up, and even the main story explores trauma and compassion. I laughed, I awwed, and I teared up, so this was by far the most potent tale for me. I was entirely invested in the characters, and out of the four stories, this one stuck with me the most, so much so I had trouble getting into Angel's Dance because I still had a story hangover with Angel's Wolf. This story's moving softness and the fascinating world are enough for me to recommend checking this collection out if you like paranormal romance.

All of these I would've given between a 3 1/2 and 4 1/2

Angel's Pawn 56 pages - Well, it was good but not a HEA only a lot of heat. I wonder if these two will get a book. I liked the story, not loved it but I loved the characters. My least favorite of the collection.

Angel's Judgment 74 pages - This is the story of 2 hunters, the future Guild direct and best friend of Ellie, and the Slayer, a hunter of hunters. It was good and they had chemistry but it was way too fast and not developed enough for me to give it my favorite vote. They probably could have been in a short novel or duology instead of 74 pages. I wish she gave some of the pages of Angel's Dance to this story.

Angel's Wolf 82 pages - This was my favorite of the 4 though Dance comes in a close 2nd. A hurt vampire is assigned to help an Angel with treachery in her court. Through solving the issues, the angel opens to the vampire and he starts healing. It is sweet yet has heartbreak. It is a PNR.

Angel's Dance 139 pages - This is a prequel to the series, as Sara's story is. Galen see Jessamy and immediately decides to pursue the teacher. The teacher has resigned herself to a life of solitude with no relationships as she is damaged and think that men just court her for pity. This would've been a perfect story but that in the middle of the story, Galen gets it in his head that Jessamy might stay with him out of gratitude. All through the first 1/2 of the book, he is very direct, yet now... he give her space. She doesn't understand his standoffishness and he doesn't come out and say something. This goes on for months. They finally get together, say they belong to each other, yet again, Galen gets it in his head that she should have a choice while they are separated by housing/job issues. This just created angst where there was none, IMO. It could have been 40 pages short without the separations and would've been just as good, maybe better. I so liked the "barbarian" Galen and the "scholar" Jessamy. She takes his brashness as rudeness, he takes her reluctance as a battle to win. I really loved Galen in the end.

I really enjoy this series. This book give you a look into the lives of many of the secondary characters and even some new ones. You also get to see a different side to some of the main characters you've know for a long time.

I loved seeing Raphael with Jessamy. He is a completely different character around someone who is much older and helped raise him than he is with anyone else. To see Jessamy and Galen come together was touching. She is such a kind heart.

I also really liked seeing more of Deacon and Sara. They are a great pair. It was a lot of fun seeing them come together

All the stories are great, but these two were my favorite. While, I think you could read this without have read the rest of the series, I think you would appreciate it much more if you have. This is true for even the stories that take place before the Angel's Blood.
