Honestly, this might be my favorite volume so far. It mostly covers the “secret origin” of our protagonist and her two sidekicks the Kambal. It’s tense, action packed, full of worldbuilding and new mystery while clearing up some of the established ones.

There’s plentiful violence between supernatural figures that may seem to be human to human many human characters but they’re not. There’s all sorts of violence and potentially horrible things. Among the final stories, a notable aspect is fanatical suicide bombers. You should probably be a teen before even considering reading this series.
