This is definitely my favourite book of all time. It is such a well written story, especially the way it is written is absolutely incredible. It really reminds me of my own high school experience especially because the book focuses so well on how Charlie feels and the way he thinks way too much. Definitely a must read for everyone who liked The catcher in the rye or everyone who likes coming-of-age books.

haaaaaated this when i read it and honestly think i'd hate it if i read it now. maybe coming of age shit just isn't my thing but this iiiiirked me and the film is even fucking worse
I would recommend this to anyone, but only once they've reached an appropriate age! The manner of writing and layout of the whole thing is really clever, and lets us have an outsider view and a first-person perspective at the same time. The story itself would sound dull to try and describe, but the fantastic characters and very realistic events and feelings really do make this worth a read.

I had a great time reading this. Charlie is such a character—he’s a crier, a reader, a lover (and a fighter). I loved being in his mind and wanted to spend more time with him!
The ending is actually insane though and I wish we could’ve spent more time unpacking that?? Like woah…a lot of crazy stuff went down in just a mere 200 pages actually, but for the most part they were handled in a way that was realistic to me.
Incidentally, here's a quote I really liked:
“She was sad, though. But it was a hopeful kind of sad. The kind of sad that just takes time.”
