The writing style, letters addressed to an undisclosed "friend", helps to form a close connection with Charlie (main character). It's like you're reading his transcribed thoughts. Which is interesting, taking in his perspective on the world, his thoughts and reflections. Made me feel sad at points, increased by the fact that the characters felt real- there's a lot of hurt.
"You can't just sit there and put everybody's lives ahead of yours and think that counts as love."

I never wanted to be a coming-of-an-age character this bad
hadn’t read this since i was in high school. it made me cry.
This was a beautiful book. Chbosky's wording and characterization made this book flow like a soft, pleasantly melancholy song. In the end, it left me with a somber yet hopeful feeling. I like that the most.
This book makes so much more sense after watching Rocky Horror Picture Show
