This one was a murder mystery set at Christmas. The characters were the royal family of the author’s creation. I wanted to love this book, but I couldn’t get through it. The background information provided was perfect as it gave a clear who’s who of the characters. Unfortunately, the set up took forever that by the time the plot got rolling I was bored. Jon was a compelling character and his love and respect for the King shown through. However, he was the only character that felt 3 dimensional. The rest of the characters were flat and didn’t feel different from each other. The writing was overly detailed and dry at times. While the plot was believable, some of the smaller details didn’t seem possible. I think this one just wasn’t for me unfortunately.

The first half moved very slow. It picked up and was starting to get into the mystery in the middle but there wasn’t a satisfying payoff.
