I really liked this book. The romance was well paced and the spy\intrigue gave the story an added bonus to an already enjoyable read.

This drew me from the moment I started reading. When Lady Emily Radstock's desperate mother sends her a copy of The Husband Hunter's Guide to London, she declares that she should wed the first "imbecile" she meets. When Sir Ajax Lynley overhears her declaration, he makes his presence known and accepts her offer. He's a government spy in need of the cover a beautiful fiance provides.

In order to resist his charms she turns to the very book she despises and does the opposite. Before she knows it she's finding it harder to resist the charming man.

This was such a fun book! I want to read the rest in the series. Evidently, I didn't start at the beginning, but this book can definitely stand alone. The story follows an older (29 so not that old) woman that has given up on finding a husband. Her mother gifts her a book about Husband finding, which irritates her so much that she agrees to marry the first cad to come along. Except he is not a cad at all, but a spy! I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Looking forward to picking up the rest in the series.

It occurred to me to wonder what my 26 year old, “outspoken, independent” daughter would say if I sent her a “Husband Hunter’s Guide”. Pretty sure she would think I had lost my mind.
But that is exactly what Emily’s mother has done, and, tired of the pressure being applied to her to wed, she accepts a proposal from the first man to ask. Although it is a sham proposal, both Emily and Lynley need each other as cover, it soon turns into something else, as they become intrigued with each other.
The spy theme in this book was not as strong as in previous books in the series, but it still provided an interesting frame on which to hang the romance.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
