I felt that Cursed Crowns didn't have the magic that Twin Crowns did. The pace was slower and the characters acted completely different. It was like another author wrote this book without reading Twin Crowns since the characters' actions and thoughts were unusually different. In Twin Crowns, I was invested in Rose's narrative over Wren's but this time it was reversed. Wren's time in Gevra was mildly more entertaining than Rose's royal tour tangent. I will read the next one (if there is a next one) to see how the saga ends. Thank you Edelweiss for an ARC.

⭐⭐⭐⭐

I'll preface this by saying I didn’t enjoy this one quite as much as the first book. It took until about halfway through for it to recapture the style and characterisation that made me fall in love with book one. But once it did, I devoured it.

I struggled the most with Rose’s chapters 🌹 She seemed to lose a lot of the development she gained in the first book, coming off as whiny and surprisingly naive in situations where I expected more growth.

Wren, on the other hand, remains my chaotic favorite 🐦 She’s a cast a spell first, ask questions later kinda witch, which often lands her in dicey situations. Her storyline had me gasping, kicking my feet, and crying more than once.

I love Shen Lo, he had a moment or two but redeemed himself, and the why choose situation going on? That was unexpected but I ate it up!

This book isn't spicy, but it has a little steam in it which is just 💘.

Despite my issues with parts of this one, I’m definitely continuing the series and looking forward to book three!

Unfortunate that a few extremely out of character choices dropped this series so many stars for me. And the fact I know in advance the love interest I want is not going to be the one chosen. Rip.
