Great summer beach read! Ashley, Natalie, and Lauren used to be so close in college, but due to disagreements in life and the business Natalie and Ashley co-own, they've drifted apart. Ashley invites the others on a Mexican vacation to try and resolve their differences and reconnect. But no matter how hard they work at it (or how drunk they get) they can't seem to forgive each other. Adding to their problems, there's a local guy named Marco that Ashley starts hanging out with, making the other two resentful of the time she's spending with him when the vacation was about their friendship. Something about Marco just doesn't seem right. Then on their last night of vacation, Ashley disappears. Natalie wakes up soaking wet on the beach with no memory of the night before or how she got there. Did Marco kidnap Ashley? Did Natalie hurt her best friend and business partner?
I like how the story goes back and forth before and after Ashley's disappearance to tell little clues of what happened. The description of this laid back vacation town made me want to go there also. Thank you to Liz Fenton, Lisa Steinke and NetGalley for the chance to read this great book.

Liz Fenton and Lisa Steinke did a great job again. This is one hell of a good story.
It pulled me in and would not let go. I was hooked and had nowhere to go. This is one of those books that will have you guessing what happened but until that very last page you won’t get it. It absolutely floored me. Left me in tears and shock.
Three friends are in Mexico to get back to where they use to be. They have been best friends for over 20 years but had a falling out and were trying to get back to where they wanted to be.
When one of them goes missing, the other two try to find her and figure out what happened. Neither can remember exactly what happened the night before and start questioning each other’s motives. They met a man, Marco, while there and Ashley, who is missing was last seen with him and Natalie.
If you lost your best friend what would you do to find her/him. Would you go to any length to ensure they were safe? What if you thought maybe you had done something that could be responsible for them being gone? Would you tell or hold it in? What if you could benefit from your friend not coming back. All of these are good questions and you will find the answers in this story. It will keep you on the edge all the way to the explosive ending that will totally blow you away.
These authors are so good. They wrote a book that keeps you turning pages, wondering, hating for it to end. It goes back and forth between each woman’s story and before and after Ashley goes missing. It’s very easy to follow and touches on subjects that need to be talked about. Abuse, friendship and strangers in a foreign country. Who can you trust. If not your best friend then certainly who.
I have to thank #NetGalley and #Lake Union Authors for the honor of reading this book. It’s so good. A big 5 stars, nothing less would do, for this book.

“Was Ashley with the man she’d met only days before? Did she pack up and leave? Was she kidnapped? Or worse—could Natalie or Lauren have snapped under the weight of her own lies?”
The premise of Ashley booking the trip to reconnect with her friends seemed flimsy. I get that it was impulsive and being impulsive is her trademark but the fact that they agreed to go also seemed weird. It’s explained why everyone agrees to go but I just struggled to believe it. I just can’t imagine doing that. I also kept forgetting how old they were because of the way they were acting. I had to keep reminding myself that they weren’t 23 years old. I know women in their 40s that behave this way so it’s (unfortunately) not an unrealistic way for these characters to act, it’s just not something I’m around. Probably because these types of people are annoying and difficult to be friends with.
I really like how the timeline was laid out. It bounced around a lot but I always knew where I was in the story. I liked the setting and the way it played such a big part in the plot of this book. I hated Marco but I loved hating him. I always love having a character to focus my rage on. For those of us who hate cliff hangers, you get most loose ends all tied up.

This was such a great read and it’s such a coincidence that they were in Mexico because I was just there about a month ago and I saw all the sights that they saw! How funny is that?
3 friends take a trip to Mexico to get close to each other but when one of them disappears, they realize that all their secrets are what will keep them apart on this trip.
This is such a great summer read. It’s been a while since I read a book like this. There are so many secrets in this book, I just loved it. It’s so interesting because it’s told in all three point of views of each character and it switches from before Ashley disappears and after. It really kept me hooked though I wouldn’t exactly call it a thriller but it sure falls under the category of a mystery.
The good thing about this book is that you really don’t know what happened to Ashley because there’s just so many possibilities. You also don’t know who you can trust because each and every character has their own secret. I just loved every minute of it.
Many thanks to NetGalley and and Lake Union Publishing for providing me with an advanced copy of this novel in exchange for my honest review.

Liked the mystery aspects because there were several plausible outcomes and I kept changing my mind. But all the female friendship drama became too wearisome for me. I can totally see how other readers enjoyed this more than me, but I failed to become emotionally invested in these three bickering women who kept arguing the same points over and over.

I HATE giving one star reviews because I’m a writer too and it would suck to get a terrible review. But unfortunately this book was pointless.
To sum up, three dumb and annoying friends (particularly the very selfish Ashley and Lauren) go on a trip to Mexico to try to resolve their friendship problems. Ashley trips and falls to her death. The third friend, Natalie, was there to witness this death, but she was drugged and can’t remember it, for story purposes, until she magically can at the end. And as one last “twist” there’s an Ashley POV chapter near the end to show Ashley had one last selfish trick up her sleeve and didn’t trip but intentionally fell. Not that it makes any difference.
The End
The characters were unlikeable. How, how, how would any women not run screaming from the insufferable Marco? There was no suspense. There were zero thrills.
I really wanted to love it. Two best friends wrote this book together about friendship. I love the title and tag line—Girls Night Out....They should’ve stayed in. Unfortunately, that was the only good thing about this. :{

I was expecting more from this one to be honest. It is promoted as a thriller but I definitely cannot agree with that. It was written well and I was really interested in finding out what happened but a thriller? No. Its mostly flash backs and them going back and forth about who did this and who did that a year ago. I felt like all three of them were pretty stupid but especially Ashley. I didn't feel for her at all. She is incredibly selfish. I did go back and forth about what happened which is always fun but I was a little let down when it turned out to be so benign for the most part. It really could have been so much better.

Ashley, Natalie and Lauren have been friends for a long time, but the past few years has put a strain on their friendship. Lauren and Ashley had a falling out after Lauren's husband died, with Lauren blaming Ashley for his death. The company that Natalie and Ashley co-own has had an offer from Revlon to be purchased for a large sum of money. Natalie wants to sell but Ashley keeps refusing. The girls go to Mexico for a vacation, to see if it is possible to mend their friendships. While they are there Ashley goes missing and everyone becomes a suspect.
This book is told in the perspective of each of the ladies, and alternates between the days leading up to the disappearance and afterwards. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and it kept me guessing until the very end. This is perfect for everyone who loves a good mystery.
