Liz Fenton tells a unique and entertaining story. I find myself attached to what I’m reading. This one was good - intricate character development but lost it at the end for me. Too many points of reference that didn’t really matter to me and the big foul-up at the end was not very climactic.

This book was just okay. It wasn't a novel I needed to binge read. It didn't hold my undivided attention. I still wanted to find out what happened but a few times wanted to just read the last chapter to get it over with.
Basically, three friends go on a trip to Mexico. Over the last year their friendship has been strained since the death of one of their husbands. Ashley (the ringleader) plans the trip to help mend their friendships. However, Ashley is the least bit interested in repairing the friendship it appears because she is too busy with Marco.
Anyway, Ashley goes missing and everyone's secrets come out. The story flops all over the place...three POVs, then, now, two days before, one week after, etc. It didn't really work for me and I found the ending was rushed compared to the time spent focusing on the bickering between everyone.

I was really looking forward to reading this book because I had heard so much about it. However, I thought it dragged along. I didn't really like any of the 3 main characters, 3 women who had been friends for 20 years, yet were currently all at odds with each other.
The 3 women went on vacation to Tulum, Mexico to work on their friendship. The last night of their vacation was to be a girls' night out, yet Ashley allowed Marco, a man they met in Mexico, to tag along. The 3 never really got over their strained relationship, and continued to argue up until the last day.
When one of them goes missing, the other 2 wonder if they were too harsh, if they should have let bygones be bygones. They struggle to find their friend, while examining their lives and their friendships.
I was a little disappointed in this book, I thought it could have moved more quickly, and given me a character to cheer, but neither of those things happened for me.

Three long time friends (Ashley, Natalie, Lauren) take a girls vacation to Mexico. Three is a crowd. Two are always competing for the leader of the pack’s attention: while loving and hating her at the same time. Make up your darn mind ladies! Anywho, Ashley goes missing after getting into major blows with Natalie and Lauren (separate fights that Natalie and Lauren don’t know all the details of…hmmm).
One will not – or will choose to not – remember what happened after Ashley left the bar the night she went missing…that’s Jamie Foxx’s cue to start singing “Blame it on the Alcohol.”
Will they find her before time runs out?
Does she want to be found?
When found will she be dead or alive?
So many questions – go read it to find the answers.
I found myself getting super irritated with all three ladies at different times, like stop being so passive aggressive and voice your feelings will you! But that is what I think made the book so good: hating then liking each character at different times had me changing my mind on what I thought might have happened.
The book reads super quick. I love how the chapters alternated between characters and at different points in the vacation (i.e. Days Before, The Night, Days After). Looking for a summer book club read? This here may be your jam. The best part of the book was the last three sentences…like holy whoa.
I received a copy of Girls’ Night Out from the authors in exchange for my honest review.
