My heart is broken. Oh, Jimmy. I knew this was coming, but didn’t know when. This is another example of where the TV series and the books diverge, but doesn’t make it less heartbreaking.

I like and respect this less the longer I think of it. There's a line near the end that tells the reader exactly the point of the events of this book, in the exact terms of the protagonist's character development to come. These books are neither deft nor subtle, but even this line stood out. I will likely return to this series, but this was a pretty major fumble in an otherwise very enjoyable oeuvre.
Birders gone made in the Shetland Islands. The ending surprised me and left me quite upset.
Not sure what to say without spoilers. Business as usual for a Jimmy Perez book but a shocker ending.
