I love Danielle Steel books and grew up reading her books. This was not one of my favorites from her. Do not let my feelings discourage you from picking up this book and reading it. You may different feelings regarding the book. It was hard for me to get into and it took me awhile to finish. I was provided a copy of this book by NetGalley, Danielle Steel and Random House Publishing-Ballantine for an honest review. I am writing this review on voluntarily.

DID NOT FINISH: 72%

I checked out the audiobook using Libby and I tried my best to finish this book but it was so boring, and had no soul.

The characters are all one-dimensional and we are constantly told what their personality traits are instead of showing us.

I had to DNF at 72% because I just couldn’t listen to it anymore.

I was very excited when PanMac sent me a copy of Danielle Steel's Palazzo. Danielle Steel is a famous name in the world of fiction. With close to billion copies sold worldwide, she is known as one of the bestselling authors of all time. Danielle has a capability to weave tales of love, tragedy and growth.

Palazzo is the story of Cosima Saverio who is just twenty -three years old, when she has to lead her family's prestigious Italian leather brand due to the tragic death of her parents. Cosima is followed by her two siblings, Allegra and Luca. As we know, the elder child is often over burdened with responsibilities, so is Cosima who is often torn between multiple tough choices. The European setting of the novel makes the descriptions of Venice so historic that readers will feel they are in Venice. This also adds a layer of richness and escapism which readers definitely will appreciate.

What I liked and what gave me immense pain is the character of Cosima who despite her youth and pressure remains strong and determined. On a personal note, perhaps, the stronger one is - the more universe or society is cruel towards them. May be "Strong or Brave" is not a great quality. Gradually the story turns and Cosima meets Olivier Bayard and his presence starts healing Cosima. I felt the story could be predicted but the writing was compelling and with Danielle Steel's compelling signature style writing - Palazzo is something which evokes emotions in readers and provides comfort.
