I found this story captivating. There were a number of times that it seemed to be assumed that the reader already was informed (by the author) of something but it seems that info was cut in editing. The narrative was frequently disjointed.
Apart from those challenges, I found this to be a compelling and unique book. The reader gets insight on the many different ways family members can respond to the same very difficult situation (an insightful reflection on human beings in general).
It’s a heartbreaking story, for all involved. I imagine it’s a harder read for anyone with children.
