It’s just SO GOOD. I love this book series so much! Sad we couldn’t see the letters Gilbert sent to Anne though, or basically any scenes with him, but that’ll make the next book all the better! It might’ve been purposeful, as well, when I think about it. To make us feel as separated from him as Anne felt. Can’t wait to read more!

Sketches of people in the new place Anne finds herself and excerpts of letters to Gilbert. Not much happens. This one was a struggle to get through.

During the first while of reading this I became annoyed at all the many letters in this book. But finally, I came to appreciate them. I love letters and letter writing, so the fact that I minded the letters at first was odd.
This book focused on the three years Anne spent in Windy Poplars waiting for Gilbert to complete Med. School. She visited Green Gables during summer and Christmas breaks, but that was only written of for a brief moment. That being said, there was a huge cast of new characters. The Tomgallons were quite... interesting. I was shocked by that story and how Mrs. Tomgallon told about her family tales in such a lighthearted manner.

The tone of this book is very different from the others. I disliked that it was afraid to interrupt any of the narrative that comes after so it had other characters present but like shells of themselves. I would have liked some interaction from Gilbert, just Anne writing to him was disappointing. I did enjoy Anne’s antics and her adventures in Windy Poplars, it just felt like there was more that could have happened to make this book more of an Anne of Green Gables book.
