The third book of this series didn’t entirely impress me, so I was nervous for the fourth. I was struggling to get through this one as I was not looking forward to another unsatisfactory read. However, I was honestly blown away by this book! I can’t describe it, but Anne’s mature, independent, nurturing, and inspiring nature was very touching and I found myself frequently moved by this story. I can’t decide if I’ll continue the series or not, but this book was well worth it. It’s also of note that I quite enjoyed the mixed media writing, including letter excerpts. It kept the story interesting.

So much better than the previous two "Anne" books. Amusing and clever.

The book switches between a classic third person narrative and lengthy letters written to Gilbert from Anne. It's about as close to the other books abundance of dialogue Anne could offer, given the distance.

This book explored many different people's personalities and developments. It showed off such a variety of interactions and relationships that Anne met and built. While the other character might have much louder personalities, this book allowed Anne to find and strengthen her footing in regards to her values and outlook. Sometimes she changed the other person for the better, sometimes not. She was almost universally loved, but I don't think that she is anywhere near a Mary Sue or a surface level, uncomplex, character.

I like that they explored and encouraged Anne's perspective and behavior. This book has a lot of value to offer in how you live your life, especially for the developing audience, but the older, more set in their ways, readers could definitely connect with the people around Anne.

There are so many little plots, that you really do have to veiw the entire book as a character study. All of the stories are valuable and adds to the through line, but that throughline comes down to what I've already mentioned, not as much down to a succinct plot.
