This chilling and heavily emotional novel opens to us a new and scary world where vampires are second class citizens that are forced into slavery and treated as nothing more than property. (Being a student of human nature I can say that I could perfectly imagine this happening if another species was ever found to exist among us.) Nicole lives in the upper echelons of society though she has never fit in among them. Her tragic past has given her a healthy fear of the vampires that live around her, but when she is forced to deal with her worst nightmare she steps up to the plate and handles the situation the best way she knows how. Riker has let his hate and rage fester for Nicole and her family for a long time and letting go of it is just not something he’s willing to do, even if it means pushing away a woman he is coming to trust and have softer feelings for. When faced with the choice of learning to depend on one another and trust in their instincts or possibly losing their lives to the true enemy of both of their pasts, both Riker and Nicole have to accept that sometimes the hardest choice is really the only choice we can live with. Riker and Nicole burn up the pages while breaking your heart, and I can guarantee there will be at least one if not more times you will wish you could reach out and kick Riker in the balls, but in the end Riker redeems himself as a true hero and a match made for Nicole. Two broken characters, each with terrifying and haunting memories of their past, each unwilling to let go of their prejudices, forced to work together for a common goal, one that could forever change their future, in one of the best written novels I’ve read recently. Who could ask for more in a story? I cannot wait for more in this series, and am dying to know whose story will be next, though I certainly have my suspicions. Hold on to your hats folks, it's gonna be a wild and crazy road as we travel through the world of the MoonBound Vampire clan! Bring it on Larissa, bring it on.

Another great read from Larissa Ione with the start of a new series. I've enjoyed her previous paranormal romances so I was eager for where this series would go. For years Nicole has been trying to find a way to remove vampires from the earth, especially since they were the reason why she lost her family. Riker has been plotting revenge against humans and knows that Nicole is his key to save vampires. As he sets to kidnap her and use her in his plot these two adversaries being to open up and discover that maybe they have been seeking vengeance against the wrong species. But can these two who come from different backgrounds and have different goals find common ground to accept the romance growing between them? Or will hatred and distrust win before they even give themselves a chance? Great read, I enjoyed the twists and turns. Eager to see where the series goes from here!

Nicole family had vampire slaves when she was a kid, and did not surprisenly not treat them well at all. One night they had enough and they revoltet, resulting in a massacre but Nicole survived. Riker was on of the vampires in the revolt and he lost his pregnant wife in the process of freedom. Twenty years later Nicole and Riker meets again and they realize they aren't as different as they first thought and romance insues. It was a decent paranormal story with some slight romance in it. Found it interesting but not amazing. Not eager to continue the series but not a bad book

This story is just chalked full of the smutty tropes!

- alpha males
- forces pregnancy
- hate to love
- feisty females

And the smut! **chefs kiss**

I was given this book from Netgalley for an honest review.

What can I say about this book except for it was interesting and a little complicated lol. Don't worry I will explain all that in a bit. As far as the characters go, well I liked them. I wasn't overly impressed with them though. I did like Nicole's attitude at first, even though she was terrified she still wore her big girl undies. But sadly somewhere in the middle she seemed to have lost her spunk but hen later kind of returned to her normal self. She was stubborn which is a quality I admire. And of course you have hottie vampire Riker, every girl loves a vampire. But he was just missing something. I can't quite figure out what. And yep he was a dick most of the time but I can see why Nicole fell for him. He did have honesty and a serious case of loyalty going for him. So overall I liked the main character, then I didn't but in the end they grew on me.

Now for the story itself. This was a new take on vampires for me. So much was different from your usual vampire tales. Weaknesses and strengths were different, they could mate with any vamp it seemed but could only imprint on that special one. I am assuming they could go out in the day and they even ate human food, oh and they were warmer than humans for once. I actually enjoyed that someone went far away from the "norm" here. It kept the story very interesting for me because I really wasn't sure what would happen next. The writing was good, at some points it kind of seemed like you were being constantly overloaded with all this info you knew you needed to remember. So yeah I may have gotten a little headache. But overall I did enjoy it and can't wait to read the next in the series.
