Great start to the series. Easy read with a fast paced story that kept me well entertained. A man's family is killed by some high powered people because they just want to get rid of James Reece due to their medical trails going awry. James and his seal team must die before the word gets out that they were tested on unbeknownst to them.
Looking for a good thriller and knowing The Terminal List had been turned into a tv show, I figured I'd give it a read. On the plus side, the author's background as a SEAL gave the action and technical side of the book a legitimacy you don't often see in this genre. Unfortunately, that's the only positive thing I have to say about The Terminal List.
The book reads like a manifesto of right wing grievances molded into something slightly resembling a novel. While all works are to some extent shaped by the worldview of their creators, I don't know that I've ever read a work of fiction more open about its author's political leanings and more hamstrung by them.
The novel is dripping with contempt for all of the stereotypical enemies of the right: liberals, very clearly, but also California, lawyers, environmental groups, the mainstream media, gun laws - Carr plays all the hits. Even with all that, a well written, entertaining book could have emerged, but essentially every character is an over the top caricature and the book really suffers for it. Even within the bounds of the thriller genre (not exactly known for realism), it strained the bounds of credulity and took me out of the story. Even for someone looking to turn his brain off and enjoy the ride, it just didn't work.

Avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. Romans 12:19
