Love Michaela Coel, but this fell flat for me. I think this works better visually (in its original lecture format) or even on audio, rather than the page. I still stan though and remain in awe of Ms. Coel.

Michaela Coel is a superb storyteller and this short book showcases her talent. It's mostly a transcript of a speech she gave to media executives at a conference in Edinburgh a few years ago but I can understand why she wanted to share it with a broader audience.

I didn't know what to expect from this book. I would describe it as prose-poetry. I listened to the audiobook and it was lovely because Coel reads it and her reading it absolutely beautiful. Because of the poetic, layered nature of the writing, I often had to re-listen  multiple times to be able to fully grasp the meaning. Well worth it and recommended!
