Wow...as much as I loved the movie, I just absolutely LOVED the book! It added so much more to Howl and Sophie's story. I cannot wait to read more!

ok so first of all, do not expect it to be anything like the movie because it isnt, which isnt a bad thing!
the story was a bit hard to follow sometimes as well but that could be me spacing out a bit too much. however, i didnt personally like how howls family was included it just made things really complicated. im still not sure if that was time travel or if the world was more advanced than i thought ?? since the porthaven and kingsbury didnt have computers or modern day cars but wales did?
this part is also just me but howl and sophie didnt seem as romantic as i expected? the only romantic bit was on the last few pages which i dont mind but didnt expect per say.
but, in all, id say this was a pretty fun read!! definitely suggest it to anyone who plans to read it.

This book is weird and wonderful. The end was underwhelming, but getting there was very enjoyable.
"Have you ever heard of a land called Wales?"
"No," said Sophie. "Is it under the sea?"
So funny, nostalgic (despite reading it for the first time), and whimsical. I loved the imagery. It was so refreshing reading about a magical world that is so nonsensical, taking a break from the comprehensive, logically laid out magical systems that is commonly shown in modern fantasy books. This isn't my usual take but I wouldn't have minded a wee bit more romance!

Really love this. It's a brilliant children's novel full of magic, silliness, and plenty of excitement. It's a real quick read considering its length but it's surprisingly complex, in the ways that only books for kids can be.
Yeah, I really liked this, but I probably won't be reading the rest of the series unless I just stumble into them, but I'd definitely recommend it for anyone with middle school kids.

The first 180 pgs were so similar to the movie I loved it and then the second half was WILD and so different but the characters were much sassier and flawed and I loved them

I love this book. It's a very cozy read, though certainly does feature a lot of action.
