2025: so I dropped a star off this because in the five years since I've last read this, I have consumed a lot of anti racism literature, intersectionality, and even become a researcher/teacher in indigenous psychology etc. so this book is not groundbreaking. I think it's good for high school students to read and/or people who live in very white dominated places but not for me.

I will say when
the verdict is given and jem starts crying, I also teared up
so the book still had an impact on me. I just love Atticus and
the reveal of Boo is so wholesome
I didn't find aunt Alexandra that bad in this read. Dill's reaction to the cross examining of tom was so heartbreaking, poor baby.

2020: still one of the most profound books I have ever read. Such a realistic and heart stabbing ending. I am glad that Lee kept the pov of scout's as a child, it just shows how wrong it is (especially mirroring with Hitler's rise).

I love the quotes about books in this novel, I love Atticus, I feel for Jem and Dill.

Rereading this is really timely, with everything going on in Minnesota. I hope one day it changes. 5 stars

2017: 5 stars
