By principle I cannot give this book 5 stars because of how sick and disturbing this book was… HOWEVER it was so good, I was engaged the entire book, and I loved the writing style. I feel weird recommending it but I still am???

Very good book about two sisters coming together after years of not speaking to unravel a horrific mystery about their missing sister.

Simultaneously heart-warming and horrifically graphic. Reader beware.

I have a hard time not finishing books. I almost always finish a book once I start it. It pained me to DNF this book. I gave this book a fair try. In fact, I gave it 3 tries. I only made it to page 136 before I decided to put this one down for good. I’ve seen this book recommended all over TikTok. I love a good mystery. I don’t mind gruesome elements in stories when I feel like it serves a purposes or furthers the plot, but the grotesque descriptions in this book left me feeling uneasy.
Like I said, I only got 136 pages in to an over 400 page book. Maybe the story improves but at a little over 100 pages in I was bored and disgusted at the same time. I felt like I should have cared about the main characters by that point but I didn’t.

guys i'm so sorry I did not really enjoy this book. was it disturbing? extremely so yes. it did a great job achieving that. was is horribly predictable and had one of the dumbest main characters ever? also yes. the ending did pull on the heart strings, and i'm glad I finished it for that, but poor sam :( such a tragic story of grief and what it can really drive people to do. +1 star for the taylor swift reference, graphic and tortuous violence aside
