I'm going to do a review more of the series in total than of just this book.

The series is based around Vows, a wedding planning business started by Parker, Laurel, Emma, and Mac, all of whom have been friends since childhood. Each book is about one of the girls and finding their true love. The series has a few moments of climax, but more or less follows the same path throughout. I personally wouldn't reread this series, and I'm not sure if I'd read more of Nora Roberts without a great recommendation, but the books were lighthearted and joyful, even though occasionally it seemed like they were trying too hard if that makes sense. I think the books are a great beach read, and the characters (while not the most multidimensional) were fun to follow. If you're looking for a fun and light read, this series is one I'd recommend.

Liked it very much, but just as a novel, not as a romance. I was happy to be able to see how the other pairings from previous books were doing, and to just be able to enjoy the compentency and friendship of our four leading ladies.

Having said that, I believe this was supposed to be a romance book, first and foremost. As such, it failed. I did not see the chemistry between Parker and her love interest, or even clear physical attraction. Apart from that one supply closet scene, it all came across quite clinical. I also did not really care for some of the behaviour of the main love interest. The narrative seems to want us to see him as rough around the edges, but I thought that he often was a douche who should really learn to respect boundaries.

Anyways, still a really enjoyable novel.

I think this might be my favorite in the series - I absolutely loved Parker and Malcolm together. They were so different but had such respect for each other and who they were as people. Also, the chemistry was ridiculous. Who knew how sexy a broom closet could be??

One aspect I dearly loved throughout this entire series was the strong friendships and sense of found family and this book showcased that so, so well. I definitely cried a few tears at the end. I've had these books on my shelves for years now and I'm happy I finally read them.

i've seen nora roberts everywhere. mostly in relation to her fantasy books which have caught my eye, but i dunno. i guess i wasn't in the mood for fantasy at the moment and picked this up along my library's available e-books (y'all. libby is fantastic; highly recommend).

and wow--she really has a way with words. even though i started off with the last book, i'm definitely gonna continue with the others. the characters, the business, the relationships were all so well-written. i loved the girls and the details of the weddings. i loved the emotions she pulled out of me, making me hurt for what they'd went through, made me root for them to be together and overcome their obstacles, and to see them happy. there were so many soft moments, which isn't surprising considering they deal in the business of marriages where emotions like to just overwhelm people.

but i'll admit there were some parts that felt a bit glossed over--
Spoilermal's passed, his stuntman accident, and i REALLY wanted to see the girls' and mrs. g's reaction to parker being proposed to
--but that might have been because it was talked about in previous books? idk, i guess i'll see.

either way, this whole story made me really hope someone i know is gonna get married soon. overall, such a good story!
