I wanted to pick this up as it used to be popular for many years, yet I never got to read it, and the spin-off series based on the youngest sister's story was interesting. Despite that, it just did not click: this is not a bad book, it's just not that interesting for me as I am not really in the YA age group anymore.

Th key issue for me was that the story line is too predictable. The style is not bad, but nothing much happens already for almost 100 pages in, and after skimming through the rest I felt like the plot is too simplistic anyway. I would have probably found it more engaging and relatable if I read it years ago when I was younger.

i mean i liked this book but some of the characters are just way better in the movie. like peter is kind of rude and not understanding when lara jean tries to explain things. and i absolutely HATE josh in this book. like he's barely in the movie and i wish he was barely in this book.
when he kissed lara jean WITHOUT HER CONSENT i wanted to lose my marbles.
it was still a nice read and i don't regret reading it in anyway. it filled up my 10 hour road trip and i'm really glad for that.

Another basic book where the female main character clearly hates other women and has a lot of internalised misogyny. Uses a lot of “not that kind of girl” type statements and slut shaming. The main love interest, Peter, is unbearable especially SPOILERS——————————
when he literally cheats and lies to her with his EX GIRLFRIEND. And she forgives him still. She just seems very much a pushover and has no depth which is disappointing coming from a female author.

Watched the movie first when it was first released on Netflix. Now I’m finally getting around reading the books. It’s good for a YA read. A cute, heartwarming romcom. I relate a lot to Lara Jean, the main character.

Very light, fluffy, and fun. Not very complex, with really basic writing and honestly I like the movie more but this was still cute.
