A funny, self deprecating look at someone struggle to figure out themselves.
I haven't read in a while (bad, I know!) and this book got my out my reading slump. It was a fun, cute, light read where I eventually did find myself invested in Joshua's life and relationships.
This book was amazing and hilarious. I devoured it in one afternoon. I'm going to have to pick up his other book now.
Full disclaimer #1: I have never watched Josh Sundquist's YouTube videos.
Full disclaimer #2: I have also never had a boyfriend. Making this book almost unbearably relatable (in the best way possible).
Like seriously: I have to recommend this to anyone who has never had a relationship, especially anyone who is *insecure* about not having had a relationship. Because, not only is this book laugh out loud funny, well-written AND littered with adorable graphs and witty footnotes, it is also super helpful. Reading about all of Josh's misadventures (and his success with Ashley!) not only made me feel less alone, but it also allowed me to think about my own misadventures and why they may have occurred. And, in the end, it was the perfect reminder that there is absolutely nothing wrong with you, no matter how many times you've been rejected or completely struck out.

I read this in about 28 hours. Loved it. Humorous and relatable but still self-deprecating enough to enjoy, and a surprising amount of bittersweetness and melancholy. Although Josh Sundquist hails from a unique background (childhood cancer survivor, amputee, Evangelic Christian family with homeschooling protocol due to the gangs and high pregnancy rates of public school, etc.), his experiences are painted in a way that makes them universal. While speaking in an adult dialect, Sundquist perfectly articulates that wonderful, horrific awkwardness of fledgling relationships in terms we can all understand. It's not Ibsen, but it is a perfect palette cleanser for anyone in between books or needing a pick me up.

I absolutely LOVED this book. I felt all the middle school and high school feelings with the writer. It was interesting reading it from a girl’s perspective. I kept thinking to myself “she totally likes you! Can you see the signs?!”.
