This was good, although not as amazing as I was hoping it would be. I had a really hard time following some aspects of the story.

I love the mixture of Caribbean deities and the Sandman Universe. I wanted more of the worlds to mix and interact. I loved the story and art style. I am interested in reading more by hopkinson

This was a bit difficult to get into but I did enjoy it and am looking forward to rereading the Sandman volumes and going forward with the rest of this series.

I'm a huge fan of Hopkinson's work, so I was definitely looking forward to this series even though I waited until the issues became graphic novels. I knew nothing of the Sandman universe, but I still found Hopkinson's take to be thorough and great as a standalone series. Overall, the artwork is incredible and her distinct writing style and knack for storytelling come clear through. I won't go into plot points to avoid spoilers for the whole series, but I will say for those of us who want more stories about Black cultural and religious traditions, this should be right up our alley.
