The New Me

funny

i didn’t hate it but it was really just a privileged woman complaining about having to work an office job :/ no thanks

Fantastic book. A seamless narrative voice. Funny and dark and depressing.

no plot just bad vibes

Halle Butler’s THE NEW ME provides a satirical look at the unexciting, cyclical life of thirty-year-old Millie who spends her days working pointless temp jobs and her nights holed up in her apartment binge-watching crime TV. A darkly humorous, sad, and very real novel.

3.5 stars - I definitely understand why others don't love this book, but I found I liked it for the same kind of reasons that I liked "My Year of Rest and Relaxation." sometimes it's cathartic to read about a woman's mild delusions, and her rotting, and nothing really changing, cuz it do feel like that sometimes.
funny lighthearted fast-paced

scared of her

This felt very realistic and too nihilistic, almost to the point it hit a nerve.

Made me laugh out loud a few times. Upsetting in a familiar kind of way
