This book was so incredible. The main character was Demisexual, and as a Demisexual myself, I found the way he was portrayed perfect. It is rare to find an author that truly understands demisexuality, and Shiloah was spot on. Jackson was SO sweet, SO loving, and SO sexy. I adored the characters deeply and could not stop reading it , in fact I read it twice and I reread several scenes more than that. The way their relationship develops, and the level of trust they establish was just beautiful. I honestly can say that this book is now one of my favorites and I look forward to reading more from this author.
Shiloah & Jackson
Rating: 3.7 ⭐
- Country Singer/Bodyguard
- Fake Boyfriend
- Demi MC
- Suspense
- First Times
Shiloah has been in a fake relationship with his best friend Alma for years. Shiloah is demi and Alma is a lesbian with a girlfriend so the arrangement has worked with no issue, but now Alma is engaged and they need to publicly breakup. Alma decides that it would look better if Shiloah came out at the same time with a partner. Having a bodyguard to cover any new threats to the star coming out is necessary and finding one that will pose as his boyfriend makes everything easier. Alden Security says they have the perfect guy and that's where Jackson comes in.
There are several misunderstandings in this book but all of them are believable in their context. Shiloah has never had a relationship or even tried for one so he doesn't know how to act or be comfortable with the initial intimacy of it all. Jackson is a big teddy bear and you love him instantly, even when he puts his foot in it you just root for the big lug to make it all better with Shiloah. Even though their fake relationship turns real pretty quickly, I liked how patient Jackson was with Shiloah. He had a good understanding on how he should approach certain aspects of physical touch but always checked in first just in case.
The suspense throughout, and I mean all the way to the end, of who all is trying to kill Shiloah is crazy. I may have wanted to shake Shiloah a few times when he made dumb decisions that put him right in front of someone with a dang weapon! The boy made my blood pressure rise so I know that Jackson was 110% worse than me in those moments. Alma is the best friend anyone could ask for and she is not to be trifled with when it comes to protecting Shiloah. I loved the security team and how they worked together to catch the bad guys and their banter is the best.

DNF, stopping because I'm demi, and I keep getting creeped out -- which is me. Demisexual's a spectrum like every human trait, and this may work fine for other demi's.

Shiloah and Jackson were just it for me. Jackson was so understanding of Shiloah being Demi-sexual. Really looking forward to Guardian's Guard now.
Oh My Goodness this was such a wonderful MM Romance that I couldn't put down. I loved this book and am so happy I had the chance to read it.
The characters drew me in right from the beginning and the chemistry between them never fizzled out.
I love how Shiloah and Jackson treat each other and get to know each other. This was the first book that I have read with a demisexual MC and it was beautiful how the relationship was explored. It is a slow burn easy to read romance with spicy heat.
It pulled my heartstrings and left me with a warm fuzzy feeling inside!
This is a New to me author and I look forward to reading more from her!

This is the second book in the series and even though I didn't finish the first book this one was much better. I loved Jackson and how protective he is of Shiloah, of course he is a bodyguard, but it goes so far beyond that.
I had no idea two masc men- one a big bad bodyguard and one a singer both around 40yrs of age- could be as dramatic as the sassiest twink to ever hair dress. It is NOT attractive on masc men with no flair, no sass, and no self awareness at their own drama. The amount of sulking is more than my 13yr old niece.
There's also the lack of communication. Not as a couple, we're not there yet, as middle age adults! Please talk to someone before jumping to the most extreme possibility.
Then there's the demi thing. I don't care if the MC is demi, but there's a lack of consistency. "I don't find people I don't know well attractive" Okay, but then even thinking about kissing disgusts him. Okay, so he's further down the spectrum. Whatever. Then after knowing this man around 24 hrs -few of which they've even been together- he's shivering in need when the bodyguard runs a finger down his arm. While rl is messy and possibly more like this, this is not a realistic book looking at demi sexuality. This feels like an author that isn't sure of their character. I could be wrong on that one, but I still hold to my other two points!
