Me & Emma

Wow, super surprising ending

Very depressing story. Had horrible subjects (physical abuse, sexual abuse) without a good purpose or moral. The twist (that Emma was made up) wasn't explained or discussed satisfactorily. If I'm going to read about horrible things, I need it to be worth it, and I definitely thought that this book wasn't worth it.

So freaking sad. I couldn't put it down.

The novel's subject is domestic abuse and involves children, so it can be a bit of a tough read at times. But the ending is good/interesting.

Heartbreaking. Fast read, yet not easily read...
emotional sad

Great storytelling and tension-building, even if a little cliched. Couldn't put it down and didn't see the ending coming at all. Really quick read, and one that will stick with me for a long time.

another quick read. I wasn't planning to read this until I heard "there is a plot twist!" and that there were lots of people who did not see it coming. That piqued my interest. Overall, it was not unlike a lot of the others that I've read like The Glass Castle or Three Little Words or even a child called It. (except that those were not fiction). Some parts were hard to get through, but otherwise, I just kept plugging along waiting for the twist. I didn't hate this book, but I didn't love it and I probably wouldn't recommend it.

This book was just ok. You know going into it that it's a story of abuse. Those parts are heartbreaking. The "shocking" twist at the end - not so shocking.

by page 38, had figured out the twist. Didn't make it less heartbreaking, but the ending wasn't a surprise.
