The first of two books, which kept me confused to the bitter end. Caroline Parker is growing up in a rough home with both parents creating a hostile environment and from the start I cringed reading about the abuse that she had to endure at such a young age. Throughout the book she has her sister by her side, Emma and without her she would be utterly alone in this sad situation.

I figured out where this book was going by the third chapter, so the ending wasn't so much a climax as it was a confirmation. Interesting book, but ultimately disappointing.
Wow. Heavy stuff. Me & Emma is a story about a girl and her sister and their lives as they intertwine with their new step-father. It's a hard story about abuse and strength. The characters in this story feel real and their voices stick out. The ending is like a slap in the face. It almost feels like cheating. Memorable story that will linger for a long time.

This book was phenomenal!!!! It is my new favorite book. If I could give it more than 5 starts, I would. Some parts can be extremely heart-wrenching, but that just added to the magic of the book. The ending was the best ending I've read in a long, long time.
One of my students suggested this one. It was very sad and rather hopeless. The twist at the end is fairly predictable, and there is no uplifting end!
I read this for book club and thought it was good...kind of depressing...and pretty graphic at some points, but good.
I have learned that you should not read books with your children's names in it. It was a complicated book but I think I cried through half of it and sometimes I couldn't bare to pick it up because of the thought what might happen to her.
I love the twist at the ending and it was a good book..I just had to rename the main character and say her name was Ema (eema instead of Emma) so that I could finally get through the book and move on..

A touching heart string story. Took me by surprise as everything in Emma & Carries life unfolded. A good ended and an eventful story. Listened on audible and it was read by a little girl touched the heart even more.
