This was truly a journey and a half to read. I sobbed for ten minutes straight at one point while reading. Had to take a break, even. I really felt for Frankie and her hardships that she faced. Frankie, Barb, and Ethel were such amazing strong female characters. I loved reading about their friendship and how they supported each other through so much. There was so much love, loss, pain, and joy in here. I feel like it really encapsulates the messiness of life and the struggle to be okay again after trauma.

This was a really difficult read emotionally, but I am so glad I finished it. This is one of the best books I have ever read.

I love the history that is included in this book.

I love the characters...they are all so well written that I would punch a couple in the face if I'd actually meet them...starting with that father.

Anyway, I wanna watch China Beach and Tour of Duty and hug my uncles and talk and talk and talk.

I hate it.

Read this, please. Then there's a couple of documentaries we can watch together.
