At first glance, this book was a lot more serious than I thought it was going to be. however, it was super engaging still, despite challenging subjects. The author did a really great job of making it not shy away from the truth, but also in a way where it’s still very readable. all in all I flew through this book and it really captivated me.

The saddest book I've read so far this year because of how realistic and detailed it is. You'll learn about experiences that the Vietnam vet you know IRL won't talk about. It's not cliché and not too focused on just one thing. You get everything: before, during, and after the war.
At first, I was nervous that it was going to be romantic or watered-down. But there's nothing fairytale about it. This story sheds light on the human condition and is beautiful in its emotional, raw way.
