Wow, I hadn't read this series in a long time and what I thought was going to be a short, wholesome read was kind of the opposite. It was short; a breeze compared to other novels I've indulged but it was so frustrating because I truly forgot about the menacing and crude acts of kids. I don't even remember Darrell being that mean either but despite that, it was very well written. It kept me hooked and interested and I simply can't wait to reread the whole book series but I need to mentally prepare myself for the mental anguish and treacherous acts of kids.

P.S. I'm so glad Darrell came to her senses about her friendship with Alicia not being the best for her and, that despite her previous capricious moods, that Sally was the best pick!

Revisiting Enid Blyton after more than a decade, it's amazing how devotedly I read the entire book in a day without finding it too childish or boring. Even though this book is set on a date long ago, it is noteworthy how relevant it still is even after so many generations.

Darrel Rivers joins Malory Towers as a first former along with 2 other girls Gwendoline and Sally. This book shows how differently each girl copes with being a new comer. Tempers fly, harsh words and actions are done and every wrong doing is met with a consequence. A great boarding school story with a set of morals is what makes this book a must read for every girl during her childhood.

This was an okay reread. I'm way too old for it now, so that was the main reason that I didn't like it that much. That said, I own it, so it was only an hour or two of my time, and it was rather nostalgic. Very British!
