Coping with the death of a pet is a difficult issue to discuss with anyone, especially children. Wilson's story introduces us to Aleta who is a normal young girl who has recently lost her dog, and finds herself going through a lot of grief because of the loss. This story respectfully and positively addresses the grief process children may go through, and identifies the wonderful aspects and steps of healing. Finally, the illustrations are both vivid, touching and add to this positive and helpful book that should definitely be included in parents' and school libraries.
