I did enjoy that the town where the characters live is an "open secret" of magic. There are witches, vampires, gnomes, merpeople and more.
Lucy and Alex are the MCs. They never really dated in high school but were friends... Until he stayed away for 11 years. But he's back and his family kind of forces him to stay by buying him a house.
Lucy and her sisters and one cousin use a wish spell because Lucy feels like she had the same life to show her classmates at reunions and wants to be seen as different. One thing I did like is that a wish doesn't just automatically come true.... They had to work towards it.
I wished for more from the romance and the magic but they were very small background players 😐

This is a book where witches exist but also other creatures like gnomes, fae, and merman like her love interest. I love a witch book especially learning new and different mythologies that exist in this specific fictional world. They were a sweet little couple, friends to lovers, and I really enjoyed all of their playful back and forth.

If you enjoy punny corny and Zaney characters you will love this book. A witch who is finding out her life has been on hold reconnects with a former high school crush of a merman who can’t stay one one place long enough to be anchored. The town is full of magical folk and the smut scenes are spicy without be extremely detailed. I really enjoyed this story.

Witchful Thinking is a sweet romance with a big dose of magic. Martin created a charming seaside town, with a very fun cast of magical creatures, that is the perfect setting for an October read.
The chemistry between the characters is excellent and the story told in alternating perspectives, which treats the reader to all the pining (and lusting) one could want in a romance.
There’s a wonderful message of being true to yourself and finding the magic (and excitement) in your life, even if you aren’t where you expected to be.
