Although I enjoy some of his puns, Peter David is often at his best when he's being serious about character development. This collection stands out among the later X-Factor books, as he examines Wolfsbane, Banshee, and Layla Miller in depth, while keeping the rest of the cast in the background.

The strongest issue in the volume is the final one, focusing on Layla trying to keep her timeline flowing in her preferred direction now that she's made one major change.

None of the stories in this collection offer resolution (hence "Road To Redemption" and not "Actual Redemption", but they push the characters in interesting ways.

Unlike the volumes that surround it, I think you could read just this volume, and still enjoy it. But why would you then the beginning of this run is So Excellent.

Another X-Factor collection where I enjoyed the stories and the art was a mixed bag (I liked the issues pencilled by Neal Edwards fine, but really did not care for those pencilled by Paul Davidson). And it is hideously overpriced: this book collects 4 comics that cost $2.99 each but costs $16.99. I do prefer to have books over issues, but $5 is a high premium to pay. It seems Marvel has stopped bothering to include an older, vaguely-related issue to pad the page count.

I'm REALLY annoyed that this only has 4 issues. But they're good ones so what can you do.
