i definitely didn't give this book the attention it deserved, but i can still confidently say it's so fricking good!!! and yes i am a swimmer, so i might be biased, but hey, that's what nonfiction is for, right? anyways, i've already added the physical book to my cart, and i'm so so excited to reread and annotate. recommend this for everyone, especially non swimmers!! i hope you discover the beauty in something that brings me and so many other people joy. <3

I've missed swimming since the Rec closed and we went into isolation. This book reminds me why I like to swim and be near water.
It's a good book but, not a great book. It reminds me of Born To Run without the race framing device to add interest and the tips that make it easier to start running.
That said, I am fascinated by Nihon Eihu, the samurai martial swimming technique. She talks about it for just a few pages but, I would read an entire book about samurai shooting arrows while treading water and swimming across rivers in several pounds of armor.
