This is the book that completely turned me off of the Princess Diaries series. In the previous books I thought Mia was charming and quirky, but in this one, she's so whiny and annoying.
Mia's birthday celebration with Grandmère does not go like intended leading to a service worker being fired. Lilly protests for this unfair firing, finds herself crushing on this boy only to lose her boyfriend. The protest blows up turning into a nationwide strike leading to Mia's dream prom being cancelled (not that she was invited yet :D) .
Loved how this book ended and was glad at Grandmère's gesture got once.

Cute and funny but not as good as some of the previous books. I did not spend near as much of this book swooning over Michael as I normally do. However, it was definitely enjoyable and has me looking forward to the next one.
Maybe I've just listened to too many of this series recently, but Mia is getting annoying and her friends are just whiny and shallow. I know they are 13 year olds, but I'm over it. I think I'll take a break from these and come back to the series if I'm still interested.
