beautiful and heartbreaking read, both funny and terrible all at once, a really visual cornucopia of description.  I loved it

I'm really glad I read this. Arundathi Roy is always unflinching in her examination of India's disenfranchised, marginalized, and abused. We are all complicit. The Love Laws are real. And Baby Kochamma might be the most despicable character I have ever read.
