Libro delicatissimo e intenso.

"the god of small things" is nothing short of a masterpiece, were you to ask me. it is unsettling in a way that never quite leaves you, and it is intrinsically beautiful. arundhati roy's style of writing is attentive, it dwells in details, and it paints a delicate portrait not only of one character, but of generations of humans that all fail in their own ways.
the singular argument keeping me from reviewing this book with five stars is the fact that sometimes, the way the timeline is constructed and the characters are introduced and described creates (at least in me) a feeling of confusion and disorientation. though whether this is a flaw in the writing or a flaw in my intelligence, i cannot say.

Arundhati Roy doesn't hand feed you in any way. The ending is given away from the start and it makes it clear that suspense is not really the point of the novel.
It touches to many deep rooted issues of India, most of them are still being practiced. Roy does amazing job to make us realize how they are deeply intertwined with the plot without being too emotional. Rahel and Estha have my heart, how resilient they are. Each character is portrayed perfectly.
I absolutely loved the writing. It's very descriptive and rich in terms of setting the scene. The non linear narrative is not easy to follow especially how fluidly we jump from past to present but enjoyable nonetheless. I feel like the way she writes English is somewhat different, I can't pinpoint it how but there's something to it and it's just works perfectly with the tone and the narrative.
Definitely one of my most memorable read and would revisit again soon because I feel like the novel has so so many intricate detail of the political landscape and character tidbits. Loved the experience :)
