This book is ridiculously long and basically nothing happens. I’m happy to have read it and now will understand references to it, but that’s about all I can say that’s good. Maybe it’s the translation?

What a struggle I had with this big book of old chivalry.
Don Quixote as a character annoyed me so much with his delusions. His adventures from beginning to end were totally foolish and nonsensical to me. I really enjoyed all other interpolated novels in the book more and the characters involved are much more interesting.

However, there were countless knowledges in this book which I wish I had more time to look into them, and as the end was closing in, I gradually developed such a deep pity for the old chivalrous knight and his even more piteous squire. It’s actually a kind of a sad story. Maybe the Knight of the White Moon shouldn’t have intervened with Don Quixote’s journey so that he could die on the road of chivalry, for even though all were his delusions, he’s happily living his dreams. And what a difference Don Quixote might have made, had he taken this adventure when he was a lot more younger!

Hij is gewoon uit!!! Ayco 1-0 ALW

"For me alone was Don Quixote born, and I for him; it was for him to act, for me to write; we two are as one."
Waarom is dit het meest emotionele dat een auteur ooit over zijn eigen personage heeft geschreven?

Ik ga hem missen, rip...

The way it ended, not sure why we needed the book 2. Gonna write more detailed review after finishing everything.

I have read 35 of the 100 Essential Novels (from Pop Chart Lab poster). I am now on a quest to read the other 65. I'm beginning with Don Quixote. You can find a list here: https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/104049.100_Essential_Novels_from_Pop_Chart_Lab_poster_

OMG that was 1274 of just endless torture of my time. And just to end like that to never knowing who the two authors were or if Dulcinea Del Tolboso ever even knew about him. It was just a sad book. I mean the first 400 pages of his madness was interesting. But then, it just got repetitive. Then, the people started to joke and mess with him. That got even sadder. Then, he dies at the end. Thankfully I did this a chapter a day, but still a waste of my seven months. UGH!
