I don’t have much to say about this book. I love Haddon’s writing, but I believe he struggles with making the main character likable and the story line above mediocre. I love the characters in his books, but the plot/character balance is disrupted by the backtracking and the strange,
sometimes absurd and unbelievable motivations to move the plot forward. There isn’t enough focus on why the characters act the way that they do. Still liked the book, but it was perhaps a bit above mediocre in my opinion.

This is one of those books that has burrowed itself into my psyche in a really unexpected way. Still thinking about it over 10 years after first reading it.
