Jacques ‘Jock’ Fourtier moved his five kids and the live-in nanny & cook couple to Garland Grove after leaving the Seattle Sockeyes. He is trying to give his kids a normal life and trying to stay under the radar.

After his oldest son encourages him to step up to coach his hockey team, Jacques meets Serenity Jacobs a single mom of one of his hockey players - the only girl on the team.

I enjoyed seeing these single parents develop a friendship that quickly ignited into more. Both of them have a lot of emotional scars from their first marriages and dating with teenagers watching isn’t something either of them are comfortable with doing.

The reactions of their kids are entertaining and enlightening, and used to create some extra drama for the couple which is pretty realistic.

The town of Garland Grove turns into a something out of a Hallmark Holiday movie, which is quaint and cheery.

This was an entertaining read with a storyline that captured my attention pretty quickly. I was happy to see Jacques get his HEA after all he and his kids have been through.

I received an ARC from the author and I am voluntarily leaving a review.

An enjoyable read.

Jacques & Serenity are both single parents who aren't looking for a second chance at happily ever after, but can't deny their attraction to each other. With 6 kids between them, they'll have to navigate bratty teenagers and gossipy townsfolk in order to make things work.

When those same teenagers decide to work together, the magic of the holiday season gives everyone what they want.

This is a charming Christmas story about Jock, single father of 5, and Serenity, single mother of 1, deciding that they want something for themselves in a life dedicated to their children. Having not read any of the author's Seattle Sockeyes books I was unfamiliar with Jock and the circumstances surrounding his marriage breakdown, but this book summarised everything I needed to know.
I really liked this read and found that it presented the reality of trying to have a new relationship while caring for children. I liked the interaction between the Jock and Serenity, and Jock's children were adorable. I was disappointed though, with how the relationship with Serenity's daughter (Charlie) progressed. She does everything she can to stop the relationship, then flips and is fully supportive. There was no explanation for why or any apologies for her actions.
In summary, this is a charming Christmas read that will easily fill up a few hours with Christmas spirit.
