This book was WILD. I did enjoy it? But I also feel like I'm 6 years old waking up in my bed after falling sleep on the couch. Very weird.

I really enjoyed it. It was a bit slow a first and the systems seemed a bit soft but definitely on the upper end.
Would have liked more firm world building and exploration but not upset.

While I was honestly pretty bored before the Saints showed up, afterward this definitely picked up, and I had a fun time reading it (also though because I saw a ridiculous comment from someone allegedly about this book that was entirely baffling me the entire time I read it.) The Luminous Dead definitely remains my favorite Caitlin Starling book though.

Disclaimer: this is a very dark and troubling story but extremely riveting. These were so many horrors but they were so well constructed that I felt myself pulled to the final resolution.

Sublime. Uno de los mejores libros que he leído en mi vida. La trama, la tensión… Resuelve muchas cosas, pero deja las suficientes desatadas como para que te deje el gusanito después de terminarlo. Increíble.
Graphic: Body horror, Confinement, Death, Gore, Torture, Violence, Blood, Cannibalism, Murder, Injury/Injury detail

This book is very well written, and I think Starling has a very firm grip on prose and the quality of the writing - that being said though, I don't think I cared much for the characters, and some of the developments came out of nowhere. I thought the high level concept was really interesting, but I do think it fell flat in an attempt to focus on the gore and cannibalism horror. There were some character developments that I felt like didn't have as much room to breathe as it should've which made some of the character moments fall flat to me and not feel as earned as they couldve been.

Easily one of my favourite reads of the year. Medieval gothic horror narrated through three morally gray women's pov with a healthy dose of sapphic yearning-sign me up!
I didn't find it neither as graphic/gorey nor as confusing as other reviews, but I read a lot of horror so maybe im biased. Definitely consider the triggering warnings but it never felt gratuitous or over the top.
